Comment Policy

There are a number of different ways people use commenting on blogs. From joining in on the conversation created by the blog post. To commenting for the sole purpose of self-promotion. While I certainly want to encourage the first, I know there are reasons for the second. However, we will not tolerate self serving and irrelevant comments with links to what we consider spam sites.
In addition to that, there are a number of ways bloggers handle the incoming comments on their blogs. Some bloggers will ignore comments and some will use the comments on their blogs to join in on the conversation themselves. I hope I fall in the second category.
We use a very effective spam filter in our blogs “Dashboard” which catches 99% of those nasty spam comments. And because I don’t want even 1% of them to slip by, I moderate each and every comment. What this means, if they are in the “to be moderated” folder, I read them and if they are relevant and not spam, they are approved and made public. I will never not post a comment because it might disagree with me. However, if it contains inappropriate language or it flames a guest blogger or another comment-er, it may get edited or not published. So be for warned.
So, where do we stand on comments on NBA Times:
  • We want and encourage comments on this blog
  • We control and delete spam comments
  • We allow relevant links in comments
  • We will not allow irrelevant links in comments

Finally, and a key point. Remember you are trying to build a relationship with the blogger you are leaving a comment on. Don’t expect to build that relationship if you leave spam or irrelevant comments. And no matter how much blogging experience you have and even if you don’t have your own blog, don’t hesitate to leave comments. It is a great way to build an online reputation.
